DOES any reader have a photograph of property that once stood on the north side of Greenock’s Dempster Street at its junction with Mount Pleasant Street or know when it disappeared?
The appeal comes from a gentleman whose father’s family lived at 46 Dempster Street, an address that no longer exists.
Travelling west along the street from its junction with Ann Street the house numbers go up to 44 then there is a gap site. The numbers start again at 54 after crossing Mount Pleasant Street and passing the former Highlanders’ Academy.
The accompanying photograph looks west along the street from Ann Street in the late 1950s.
The property in question may have existed then but it is difficult to identify it in the picture.
Please give me a call or drop me a note if you can help in this appeal.
