AS indicated last week, both Ronnie Cowan MP and myself met with BT/EE after their announcement to close the site.
Our first priority will always be the staff and what will happen to them. The closure of the site will create an economic shock to Inverclyde but the effect on the staff will be more profound.
Both Ronnie and myself will continue dialogue with BT/EE to represent our constituents.
Another week has passed, and yet more research has been published demonstrating how the UK is worse off post-Brexit.
Research from the House of Commons library shows home insurance prices have risen faster in the UK than the EU average since 2015.
Since 2015, EU home insurance prices have risen by less than a fifth, but in the same period, UK home insurance prices have risen by nearly a third.
Previous analysis from the SNP found that between January 2022 and May 2023, UK home insurance inflation has risen sharply to an average of 17.9 per cent.
In France it averaged only 2.8 per cent, and in Germany the price actually reduced by an average of 2.6 per cent.
The Tory government has crashed the economy, dragged Scotland out of the EU and exacerbated the cost-of-living crisis.
Finally, Labour continues to also show breath-taking arrogance to Scotland – with Josh Simons, the director of Keir Starmer's right-wing think tank 'Labour Together', saying during a radio interview that smuggler gangs should be shipped to Scotland.
He has since apologised but now we all know his real views. I recommend readers do an online search to find out who else is involved with this dodgy organisation.
