I AM writing to express my concern about the Scottish Labour Party's stance on two crucial issues that directly impact the well-being of our community.
To me, it's mind-boggling that the Labour Party is suggesting that they are "the change Scotland needs" when they are willing to allocate £205 billion to replace the Trident Nuclear deterrent while simultaneously endorsing the continuation of the Tory Party's two-child policy.
As we move within touching distance of a General Election, which will most likely give Sir Keir Starmer the keys to No.10, I urge the people of Inverclyde to reflect on the Scottish Labour Party's stance and consider the promise it is making: Labour will pay for a third nuclear deterrent system, but they won't pay for your third child!
At a time when people are grappling with the cost-of-living crisis, it is outrageous that an astronomical sum is being allocated to prioritise the maintenance of outdated military systems while simultaneously restricting the life chances of Scottish families.
Scotland doesn't need change like this. When you think about it, it's really no change at all, is it?
The change Scotland needs is still independence. Only with full autonomy will political choices make sense.
Show your support and vote for independence at every opportunity. It certainly won't make a difference to the outcome of who wins a UK-wide election.
But the eventual formation of a political system committed to investing solely in the well-being of Scotland and its people may well make all the difference to our families, friends, and neighbours.
