PEOPLE in Inverclyde have Alex Salmond’s Alba Party to thank for their council tax being frozen next year.
I recently received a letter in the door from Alba Party which was to highlight their campaign against the very daft Green and SNP government idea that council tax should be increased by upwards of 22.5 per cent during a cost of living crisis.
Why anyone in the SNP thought this was a good idea in the first place is beyond me. However, it was disappointing yet again to see SNP politicians sit back and say nothing for the past few months when they knew that these increases would inflict hardship on thousands of people across Inverclyde.
No doubt over the coming weeks we will hear SNP members of parliament tell us how great an idea the council tax freeze is when it was them alongside the Greens that wanted to inflict the proposals upon us as part of the Bute House Agreement.
Alba Party were the only party in Scotland that campaigned for the ridiculous increases to council tax to be scrapped and for our council tax to be frozen next year.
Credit to Humza Yousaf for being smart enough to listen to Alex Salmond’s call to do this.
People in Inverclyde have Alba Party to thank for the council tax freeze, not politicians of every other party that were content to see it rise.
