ANAS Sarwar has promised he will stand up to Keir Starmer as Prime Minister if he does not make decisions in Scotland's favour. Well that would be a 'change'.
He keeps going on about change. Well what will 'change'?
He has proven in the past that he cannot influence Keir Starmer, so what will change after an election?
Starmer will still have England as priority. He has to, as England will decide if he gets in or not and England will decide if he gets re-elected after four years in power. Scotland is a side show to English politics and always has been. England will be Labour's priority make no mistake. No 'change' there.
Does anyone really believe a Scottish Labour leader is going to 'change' the House of Lords? We could ask a previous leader, Jack McConnell when he’s not busy brushing down his ermine robe pension package in the House of Lords. “The Lords Must Go” - from Keir Hardie’s Labour Party manifesto in 1910. No 'change' there.
Compare the Union Jack images that adorned the background for the Labour national conference in October 2023 to the background in Labour's last regional conference in Glasgow. No Union Jack but no Satire either? Are they ashamed or confused? I’d suggest both. No 'change' there.
There is no Scottish Labour Party, there is only Starmer’s Labour Party. When it comes to Scotland the party of abstain, disdain and retain.
Retain the House of Lords. Retain two child benefit tax. Retain the bedroom tax. Retain anti-protest laws. Retain Trident missiles in Scotland. Disdain for Scottish public opinion and abstain on important legislation for Scotland.
There is only one party that will stand up to Keir Starmer as Prime Minister if he does not make decisions in Scotland's favour. The party that stands for real change in Scotland. The SNP.
