COUNCILLOR Brennan states in her reply to my concerns about West Blackhall Street that the quality of work is of the standard expected.

I beg to differ, or perhaps my standards gained by many years in construction differ from hers. I'm sure she has expertise in other fields, but not in construction.

She does not need to lecture me on the procedures for contracts, large or small.

She points out that the project is being carried out on a phased programme, perfectly acceptable practice.

If this is the case, prior to moving forward, visible inspections should take place and any substandard works remedied, rather than being repeated and rectified prior to being handed over, therefore negating the need to inconvenience both pedestrians and shop owners again.
