LABOUR council leader Stephen McCabe's statement in the Greenock Telegraph on June 12 treats the Inverclyde public as fools as he spends our money increasing Peel Ports' stranglehold of Inverclyde.
They spent £254,000 of City Deal investment, our money, to buy AP Jess land now owned by Clydeport Operations Ltd.
The City Deal application for this investment was for Inchgreen Marine Park Ltd not Clydeport Operations Ltd.
He is supported by another councillor, the SNP's Chris Curley, who also believes we are fools and unable to read documents.
Then we have the real leader here, Clydeport director James McSporran, whose company continues to run rings around Inverclyde Council, particularly its Labour leader Stephen McCabe.
It’s just as well the Campaign to Save Inchgreen Drydock is doing the councillors' jobs in monitoring and questioning now that the £310,000 dividend payment has reportedly been paid to the council. We await formal confirmation.
Inchgreen Dry Dock is our jewel in crown and a national asset.
Inchgreen Marine Park Ltd is a vanity project that could block the reinstatement of the dry dock as a productive industrial marine facility, providing skilled jobs for our community.
Inverclyde is now just a cash cow for the Peel Group, and unfortunately we have the politicians to provide the millions.
Inchgreen Marine Park Ltd should be wound up and the Scottish Government must step in to save our national asset, Inchgreen Dry Dock, before all hope of its reinstatment is destroyed.
