OUR Labour council leader of 17 years is in attack mode and now making startling claims in the Greenock Telegraph on the June 19 that every councillor was aware of the benevolence of the Inverclyde Council, using £258,000 of City Deal funds and £42,000 of council funds to purchase the AP Jess land for Peel Ports.
To make sure we all know the culprits in this deal he names them, Councillors Brooks, Cassidy, Clocherty, Crowther, Curley, Daisley, Jackson, McCormick, Quinn, Robertson and himself.
However, we have to take his word for it as the meeting papers of August 31, 2023 are not in the public domain. Therefore, another secret paper hidden from public scrutiny for our council leader's vanity project.
Now that he’s throwing out accusations, why doesn’t he just ask Peel Ports for the money to repair the damage on our national asset, Inchgreen Dry Dock, such as the installation of new cranes and repairs the dock's pumps? No, he would rather apply for more public funds to assist Peel Group.
