RONNIE Cowan at the recent hustings for the General Election called our community group 'protesters' and that we are stopping companies moving onto Inchgreen.

Ronnie has a very short memory, he has constantly accused the Labour council leadership of rejecting companies that he promoted for Inchgreen. In a recent article in the Greenock Telegraph he referred to these rejections, but refuses to support our Scottish Parliament petition and our Inchgreen Pledge.

His reasoning is that he doesn’t want to upset Stephen McCabe’s vanity project promotion of Inchgreen Marine Park and the companies who may move onto the Park. He has praised Peel Ports on many occasions over his tenure but refused to provide information on his numerous meetings with them. For the record, these meetings have produced no jobs or any project, so what exactly has he contributed in nine years regarding our industrial regeneration? Zero.

We continue to support companies like  Stuart Ballantyne’s Seatransport Group which wishes to build a new Scottish ferry fleet at Ferguson Marine and Inchgreen. Ronnie should remember, two years ago this month he rejected an invite to meet Stuart when he was presenting his plan at the Beacon.

Inverclyde Taskforce, which Ronnie was a member of, rejected an offer of a further presentation of the plan by the Clyde Catamaran Group, seeking support in their discussions with the Scottish Government.

Obviously, Ronnie's lack of industrial knowledge, River Clyde operations and his continued support for Peel Ports has clouded his judgement.

Recently Peel Ports received criticism from two local companies, CalMac and CMAL, for their lack of investment on the Clyde, but no comment from our MP.
