PATRICK Cregg last night turned down a contract offer from Morton and agreed to join SPL side St Mirren instead.
The midfielder has been out of contract since leaving Hibs in the summer and impressed as a trialist for Ton against Ross County last weekend.
Boss Allan Moore offered the Irishman a deal, but told him he had until last night to accept the terms or walk away.
And Cregg, who trained with SPL club St Johnstone this week, opted instead for a move to Ton’s fierce rivals.
A disappointed Moore told the Tele this morning: “He phoned me last night and said he’s going to St Mirren.
“I’m disappointed obviously because he’s phoned me to come to us and I’ve put him in the shop window and now he’s going to St Mirren.
“But we can’t do anything about it. It’s done and dusted now, so we’re just going to have to go with the boys we’ve got already.”
