TEENAGE frontman Aidan Ferris hit all four goals as Morton’s reserve side recorded a resounding 4-1 victory against Berwick Rangers at Cappielow last night.
The 17-year-old got the ball rolling on 11 minutes with a wonderful floated effort which caught visiting goalkeeper Kieran Beverage off his line.
He added a second just two minutes later when he side-footed a David McNeil centre against a startled Beverage and into the net.
Aidan Fulton, playing at left-back, provided the assist for the third, bombing forward and firing over a low cross which was cut out but not adequately cleared and Ferris pounced to slam home.
There was a cause for concern when Joe McKee was replaced at the interval due to an injury to the same ankle that had suffered ligament damage at Falkirk and ruled him out for seven weeks.
However, speaking to the Tele afterwards, the 20-year-old did not seem overly concerned, insisting it was a minor knock and hopefully nothing too serious.
Former defender Craig Reid was listed as a trialist for the second consecutive reserve outing after featuring in the 3-3 draw with Dundee last week.
Both sides were then reduced to 10 men just after the hour when Glenn Eadie, who’d only replaced McKee at the break, slammed into Ryan Scanlon with a dangerous tackle.
Ton suffered further setbacks when centre-half Luke Irvine was forced off with a serious looking knee injury and McNeil seemingly suffered a hamstring strain, although he saw out the 90 minutes.
But they still managed to add a fourth goal, and it was Ferris who completed a dream night, popping up at the near post to guide another Fulton cross past a bewildered Beverage.
