KENNY Shiels has signed former Crawley Town youth midfielder Ollie Emsden on amateur terms until the end of the current campaign.
The 20-year-old Englishman, who also counts Basildon United and Cypriot second tier side APEP as former clubs, is eligible to play in reserve matches, making his debut in the recent 3-1 win at Annan.
And Morton boss Shiels, pictured, says the move is designed to give Emsden the chance to impress and earn a contract for next season.
He told the Tele: “We’re having a look at Ollie Emsden.
“He’s a left-sided midfield player who we’ve signed on amateur terms. This gives us an opportunity to see if he measures up with our players. He played against Annan and did very well and hopefully he can continue to do enough to impress us and see if he’s one we’ll take for next season.”
