GOALKEEPER Grant Adam has left Morton in search of a guaranteed first-choice spot.
Adam, 24, had started Ton’s last seven matches but departed by mutual consent prior to the New Year with Derek Gaston set to come back in between the sticks against St Mirren.
When asked about the shot-stopper’s departure, manager Jim Duffy said: “Grant Adam is away. He has been absolutely terrific for us.
“I think he played about 13 games and we only lost one, which was the last one against Raith Rovers and one [goal] was a deflection, one was a penalty.
“But he wanted confirmation that he would be the established No1, and I was putting Gats back in against St Mirren.
“So he was disappointed with that and wants to go and establish himself as a No1, so I could understand his point of view and with the transfer window open we thought we’d do it now.
"We thank him for his contribution which was immense, but we just move on and young Jamie McGowan will come in and be our No.2 at the moment and we’ll assess that as we go.”
