MORTON assistant manager Craig McPherson has agreed a two-year contract extension with the club, the Tele can exclusively reveal.
The former Cappielow midfielder returned to his hometown team in the summer of 2014 when he was installed as Jim Duffy’s No2.
Manager Duffy put pen to paper on a new deal at the end of last month, and McPherson has now followed suit after the club came back to him with a concrete offer following informal discussions.
The 45-year-old is thrilled to have committed himself to the Ton and told the Tele: “I’ve agreed a two-year contract to stay at the club and I’m glad to be staying.”
Meanwhile, Morton will discover their 2016-17 schedule on Friday June 17 after the SPFL confirmed the date for the publication of next season’s league fixtures.
The Championship line-up was completed yesterday after Kilmarnock comprehensively defeated Falkirk in the Premiership play-off final.
The second tier will be contested by: Dundee United, Falkirk, Hibs, Raith Rovers, Morton, St Mirren, Queen of the South, Dumbarton, Dunfermline Athletic and Ayr United.
