GOUROCK footballer Amy Muir will captain Scotland at the UEFA Women’s Under-19s European Championship on home soil later this month.
The midfielder, who has just left Rangers after seven years, was formally named in head coach Pauline Hamill’s squad for the tournament, which gets underway on July 16.
The former Clydeview Academy pupil, 19, will lead out her country against five-time champions France in the opening match at St Mirren Park in just under a fortnight’s time.
Scotland will then play Norway at Firhill on July 19 before heading back to Paisley to play the Netherlands on July 22.
The 20-strong playing squad was announced at Hampden yesterday.
It will be the first UEFA finals tournament to be held in Scotland since 1970.
The Scots need a two-top finish to progress to the semi-finals and secure a spot in at next year’s FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup.
Amy said: “I’m absolutely delighted and honoured to be selected to represent Scotland at the Women’s Under-19 European Championships this month.
“I can’t wait for it.”
