LONG-RUNNING plans to develop the Wee Dublin End with a roof from St Mirren’s old Love Street stadium have finally been scrapped, the Tele can reveal.
The stand had been purchased when Morton’s Renfrewshire rivals left their old ground back in 2009.
Parts of the Paisley club’s Reid Kerr Family Stand have been stored behind the Cowshed after plans to cover the away end were put on the back burner.
The Tele can reveal that new club bosses Morton Club Together had agreed to sell the stand back in April and it was removed from the grounds behind Cappielow on Tuesday when the takeover was legally signed off.
It is believed that the stand has been sold for scrap and that the fee obtained remains in the club’s hands.
It is yet to be seen if the new Ton chiefs will look to upgrade the stand in future.
