I THINK it’s fair to say that the SPFL Trust Trophy comes in at the bottom of Morton’s list of priorities when it comes to the tournaments we are competing in this season, so I assume it wasn’t a major disappointment when we lost out on penalties to Raith Rovers on Saturday.
Personally if we had to end our unbeaten run then I would rather it was in this cup than the Championship, but having said that it was possibly our best chance of winning silverware this season.
This cup can be an annoyance but at the same time for me getting to the final previously was an amazing day out and it also gives us a possibility of a trip to Ireland or Wales, so I do have mixed feelings about it.
Driving home from Kirkcaldy after the game on Saturday was disappointing after the result.
But when put into perspective the league is so much more important and a win over Queen's Park this weekend could potentially take us to the top of the Championship which would go a long way to forgetting the penalties loss in Fife.
