NEW signing Calvin Miller has promised Morton fans he'll add an extra attacking edge to Dougie Imrie's side after completing a move to Cappielow.
The versatile ex-Celtic youngster completed a short-term deal until the end of the season after training with the Ton squad following his exit from Chesterfield.
The former Scotland Under-21 international has played as a winger and defender during his career, which has included loan spells at Dundee and Ayr United.
Miller is aiming to be a big threat to Championship defences as Ton look to maintain their challenge for a play-off place in the second half of the campaign.
He told the Tele: "My favourite position is winger, left or right wing.
"There was a period where I felt like I was playing my best football at wing back when I was down south.
"I am not saying I don’t like playing at left-back, I do a job there, but my preference is to be further up the pitch.
"Further forward is probably where you will see me at Morton."
Miller says he was on Imrie's radar in the summer and he is delighted to return to Scotland after a two-year spell in the English lower leagues with Harrogate Town, Notts County and Chesterfield.
Having trained with Morton at Parklea as a free agent in the last few weeks, the 24-year-old says he can’t wait to get games under his belt again having played very little football this campaign so far.
He said: "I am delighted to be back up the road and get my name back in Scottish football.
"It will be great just to play and get my name back out there again.
"I have been in here for three or four weeks now. The manager asked me to come in and train.
"I was just keeping fit at first, and I knew he wanted me in the summer as well, so I had trained here a couple of weeks and he offered me a deal.
"I had enjoyed training and I knew a couple of the lads, so it was a perfect fit."
The wide man is hopeful he can repay the faith Imrie has shown him and he believes playing under the Ton boss can get the best out of him.
Miller said: "The gaffer is a really good new up-and-coming manager who is doing well, and he has actually shown me a lot of faith which you want as an attacking player.
"I feel like he has similarities to me.
"He used to be a left-sided player as well, so he knows a bit about me and I have played against him when I was at Celtic as well.
"There were a couple of factors in there that made me want to sign for him.
"He has shown me that appreciation and I want to give something back by performing well for Morton."
Having been denied the opportunity to make his debut in Monday’s postponed home clash against Ayr United, the Celtic youth graduate will potentially make his first appearance for his new club away at Partick Thistle this weekend.
He added: "The international clearance went through at half nine, so I was worrying that I wouldn’t be able to play.
"Then it came through so I was buzzing then an hour later, the game was cancelled because the pitch frozen, so I was gutted about that.
"But I'm looking forward to Saturday now."
