CALVIN Miller believes there's no reason why Morton can't be challenging for promotion to the Premiership come the end of the campaign.
The 24-year-old, who also reportedly attracted interest from Falkirk, says the performances of the Greenock side so far this season was one of the factors in deciding his next move.
Sitting 10 games unbeaten in the league, the Ton travel tomorrow back to the ground where they last tasted defeat in the Championship when they were hammered 5-1 by Partick Thistle in October.
Miller says Morton is the perfect move for him and has ambitions of helping Ton finish as high as possible between now and the end of the campaign.
Ahead of the trip to Firhill the Ton sit in the play-off position with a game in hand over Dundee, Queen's Park and Ayr United.
And the ex-Celtic youngster says he is determined to help Dougie Imrie's men stay there in the second half of the season.
He told the Tele: "Morton have been on a good run, they have not lost that many games this season and they are sitting up the top end of the table.
"The gaffer is doing really well and so is the team, is it a perfect place for me to come in, get games, and hopefully finish as far up that table as possible.
"You never know what can happen."
With spells at three different English clubs - most recently with National League side Chesterfield - the winger made six appearances in the league this season.
He says spells there as well at Harrogate Town and Notts County all helped him gain knowledge and develop his game.
But after nearly three years down south he says the time was right to come back to play in Scotland.
He said: "It was good experience playing down south, playing different types of football and being in different leagues.
"I enjoyed playing down there but I'm just happy to be back up the road and it is closer to my family.
"It will be great to get back playing again."
Miller will get the opportunity to face the side where he made his breakthrough this month when Ton travel to Parkhead on January 21 in the Scottish Cup fourth round.
After coming through the youth ranks before his departure to Harrogate Town in 2020, the winger made five appearances for Celtic in total.
Miller revealed the chance to play test himself against his former side was another reason he wanted to make the move to Greenock.
He added: "Playing against Celtic was another factor as to why I signed as well.
"It will be good to go back to Celtic Park where I first made it and where I made my professional debut.
"I'm buzzing to get back there as well and just get playing again."
