Greenock parkrun, event number 431, January 13

THIS week 171 people ran, jogged or walked the course, of whom 31 were first timers and eight recorded new PBs. Representatives of eight different clubs took part.

Participants came together on the Esplanade to celebrate the lives of Andy Cameron and Paul Fulton.

Many parkrunners and volunteers wore yellow as Andy was known as the MIYH (man in yellow hat). Many of Paul's family gathered to run or walk together in his memory after he sadly passed away at the beginning of January.

Both men were well respected by the parkrun family and the turnout showed what they meant to the whole group.

Five runners achieved milestones - Eric Lindsay and Robert Speir completed their 100th parkruns, June Rattray and Janice Lowles each chalked up their 50th events, and Greenock first-timer Margaret Evans recorded her 25th parkrun.

First runner into the funnel was David Henderson in 16:42. Greenock first timers, Kris Robbins and Graham Evans were second and third respectively in 17:00 and 17:01.

Edinburgh AC's Laura Kyle was first of the ladies to finish (21:01) and with a new PB of 22:19, Lynne Harrison was second, followed by Lesley Weber in 23:28.

The event was made possible by 16 volunteers: Graham McGrattan, Gillian McDougall, Graham Smith, John Stevenson, Eileen Stevenson, Iain McKenzie, Jim Brannigan, Sharon Tait, Emma Sinclair, Irene McIntosh, Paul Bleasdale, Joseph McFadden, Stephanie McCann, Tracey Howe, Lesley Dick and Jill Turner

Parkrun is short of volunteers for the rest of the month. If you can help out, just email greenock@parkrun.com or message the Facebook page.
