FOR the first time in Greenock Wanderers' existence an U12s girls team represented the club on the hallowed turf of Fort Matilda last Sunday.
Joining them in a round-robin competition were teams from Marr and Strathendrick.
A strong Marr side came out on top against the young Wanderers in the opening match, and Strathendrick dominated play in their second fixture and scored some lovely tries.
However, the girls revelled in the experience of competing at Fort Matilda and they're all looking forward to more games at this level.
Former Wanderers Ladies captain Beverley Addison and the P6 boys squad helped with the event and, despite the poor weather, a decent crowd turned out to support the young players.
It is hoped that more girls in U12 age group category come along to Fort Matilda and get a taste for the game of rugby. Details are on the club's website.
