Helensburgh 27 Greenock Wanderers 57
AS Wanderers didn't have a competitive fixture, a 'friendly' was arranged with Helensburgh as hosts - but tempers frayed during this high scoring encounter resulting in THREE on-field rammies.
After a hectic start by both sides Wanderers' Graham almost got over the line but was held up and the resulting touchline drop out was poor by the hosts. Marshall fed out the backs for a try by Brodie Stone to give Wanderers a 5-0 lead after ten minutes.
Graham was using his weight advantage to rampage through the home defence and laid on another try, this time for scrum half Knox and Wanderers were 12-0 up with a conversion
The home side enjoyed a spell of possession and their flying winger ran in a try from just inside his own half to make the scoreline 12-5 after 16 minutes.
Spurred on by this, Helensburgh continued to dominate and it took a try saving tackle by Wanderers' full-back Morrison to stop another score.
Helensburgh were not to be denied and their chunky prop ran over some despairing tackles to score after 21 minutes and make the score 12-10.
The match started to get a little more than competitive and a rammy ensued after a ruck. The referee calmed matters but took no action as a card should have been shown to players on both sides.
Wanderers ended the half with a further try for Stone to make it 19-10.
The second half started well for the Greenock side and a rampaging run by Graham resulted in a converted try to pull the team further ahead at 26-10.
But Helensburgh immediately responded with a converted try of their own to haul it back to 26-17.
It was thereafter end-to-end and it was Wanderers turn to score from a good run from McDaid and a scoring pass to Marturano to make it 33-17.
Helensburgh then worked their way down the park registered a further five points with a try, 33-22.
This signalled the indiscipline to breakout again and Wanderers' Hoodless was the unlucky player to receive a yellow, however, it could have been anyone.
The small crowd, mainly from Greenock, were then entertained with a further outburst of misbehaviour.
When play eventually resumed, Wanderers scored again when winger Forrester took a scoring pass from Boag who had just come on as substitue, 40-22.
By this stage Helensburgh were clearly tiring and Wanderers took advantage with two successive tries from McDaid made the score 50-22.
Further scores from Helensburgh and Wanderers ended the match at 57-27.
The Ladies had a fine win away to Cambuslang, 12-5.
