FUTURE footie stars proved they had a hat-trick of skills at a fun holiday camp.

Morton in the Community ran the sessions at Notre Dame High School as part of their summer programme.

There was no lack of takers with the coaching classes being busier than ever despite the weather.

Shaun MacDonald, lead coach with Morton in the Community, said: "It's been great. We have been averaging around 30 children but we have close to 50 today, which is brilliant.

"When the kids are waiting to come in at the gate they are so excited and are always smiling. We finish at 1pm but sometimes we run for another ten minutes because they are enjoying themselves so much and parents like watching at the side.

"Some of them know other kids from school but they also make new friends. A couple of them were a bit shy but they left really happy.

"Some of the youngsters come early so they can play with their new friends."

The training sessions for the mini camp were split into four to six-year-old age groups, six to eight-year-olds and eight to 12-year-olds.

Micro sessions are also running for two to four-year-olds.

Shaun says that even the poor Scottish summer hasn't dampened their spirits.

He said: "They don't complain about it but if the weather is bad we take them into the canteen in the school and play games, do quizzes and they have been drawing flags for the Euros.

"I love my job, sometimes I think I get more out of it than the kids."

Sessions also run at Battery Park and Clydeview Academy and for more information visit: https://mortoncommunity.net/
