Newark Angling Club members made the journey to Lochs Long and Fyne for a fishing competition.

Fourteen fish were returned among the anglers, although, unfortunately, the junior members didn't manage any.

This competition was part of the club's calendar in which they fish for the Hugh Gorry Dunn trophy.

Patrick Dunn fishing the spinner also had a score hitting the board.

George McCahill and Davy McDonald, both landed fish late in the day.

Ian Ross lost a decent fish at the net but managed to return a catch on bait.

George Martin lifted the silverware when he landed two nice fish, with the heaviest over a pound, earning him the much-coveted trophy.

Anglers on Loch Long had more substantial returns, especially at Youth Hostel Bay where some notable fish were returned.

Regular performing angler Gilbert Bradley scored in this area with two nice returns.

The angling party's best performer was George Gemmell (Sr), delivering four cracking fish and topping the leader's board.

Mr Gemmell also returned the heaviest fish on the outing, with a weight exceeding two pounds which other anglers found challenging.

The event's results showed seniors in the top spots; George Gemmell (Sr) landed first place at 7lbs 9oz, followed by Gilbert Bradley at 2lbs 12oz.

George Martin secured third place with 2lbs 2oz, and Davy McDonald, with 0lbs 15oz, picked up the fourth spot.
