ATHLETES of all ages from are gearing up for the return of a fantastic fitness challenge.
The Gourock Sprint Triathlon will take place at Gourock Outdoor Pool on August 18 and is open to both experienced athletes and those taking part for the first time.
The main event includes a half-mile swim, a 10-mile cycle and a five-kilometre run, with options for both individual and team entries.
A junior aquathlon, which consists of a quarter-mile swim and a three-kilometre run, will also be held for young people aged 10 to 17.

Hollie Stanton, of Inverclyde Leisure, told the Telegraph the company is looking forward to hosting the event.
She said: “We believe that events like the Gourock Sprint Triathlon play an important role in building a community, inspiring individuals to achieve their fitness goals, and bringing people together.
“It’s a chance for everyone to come together, cheer each other on, and celebrate health and fitness in a supportive environment.
“Having been involved in organising this triathlon, I’ve seen firsthand the dedication and enthusiasm of everyone who has contributed to making it happen.
“From local volunteers to sponsors, the support has been overwhelming and I can’t thank them enough.”
Inverclyde Leisure have also booked a live DJ to provide entertainment throughout this year’s event.
Hollie believes that a great day is in store for everyone who comes along.
She added: “The Gourock Triathlon is not just a race. It's a celebration of community spirit and athleticism.
“This event brings together participants of all ages and skill levels, showcasing the stunning beauty of Gourock and the resilience of our local athletes.
“We are thrilled to see such enthusiasm from both competitors and spectators, as this triathlon highlights the importance of health, fitness, and camaraderie in our community. encourage everyone to come out, cheer on the athletes, and perhaps even consider participating in future events.
