THE Greenock and District Bowling Association’s fours and triples league campaigns will conclude on Tuesday, August 13.
In the fours league, Wellington Park now lead the race for the championship after a massive victory against Lady Alice in week 9.
Victoria BC managed to get a foot-hold in the bottom half after a strong win in Week 9 and will now be looking to cement their place next week.
In the triples league, Inverkip, Lady Alice, Kilmacolm (1) and Fort Matilda are all in danger of being relegated to Division 2, so it’s a big final week for all involved as they aim to avoid the one relegation place.
Port Glasgow (2) lead the way in Division 2 and barring a major setback against Victoria look well on course for promotion.
All the final games on August 13 start at 6.45pm.
Fixtures are as follows.
Fours League: Ardgowan v Lady Alice at Gourock Park, Grosvenor v Wellington Park at Victoria, Gourock BC v Victoria at Wellington Park, Gourock Park v Rankin Park at Lady Alice.
Triples League, Division 1: Kilmacolm 1 v Inverkip, Lady Alice v Port Glasgow 1, Wellington Park 1 v Fort Matilda.
Triples League, Division 2: Gourock BC v Wellington Park 2, Port Glasgow 2 v Victoria, Grosvenor v Kilmacolm 2.
Thursday, August 8 sees four fixtures in the Over 50s League, all starting at 2pm: at Kilmacolm, Wellington Park play Port Glasgow and Victoria face Gourock Park, while at Port Glasgow, Inverkip take on Grosvenor and Lady Alice are up against Kilmacolm. Fort Matilda have a free day.
The Greenock and District Championships will begin across the district on Saturday, August 17 at 11am. The draws have been sent out to all clubs and also to the clubs who will be hosting games.
