GREENOCK Golf Club's dominance continued for a fourth consecutive year as they were crowned Inverclyde Golf's team champions for 2024.
Despite it being a tight contest, nothing could stop the Greenock outfit picking up the silverware yet again, this time at Port Glasgow Golf Club.
The event involved 12-man teams from Greenock Golf Club, Port Glasgow Golf Club, and Whinhill Golf Club. This was as a result of Gourock Golf Club unfortunately being unable to compete in this year's event.
The organisation of the tournament means that the event is held at one of the four golf clubs on a yearly rota.
This year's edition of the showpiece saw Port Glasgow given the chance to host and this saw the competitors treated to a course set-up in great condition.
The format saw nine four-ball-better-ball matches played out over the course of the day, with each club playing three matches against two other clubs.
In a fierce contest, that saw some great strokes played in good conditions, the 12-man Greenock team edged out Port Glasgow by a single point as they rounded off their tie, winning by 4.5 points to Port Glasgow's 3.5.
The quality in the golf on show wouldn't drop, which meant that every match on the day went down to the wire, with the 17th or 18th holes becoming the deciding factor more often than not, so it was a great contest, played in the usual great spirit.
After a thrilling contest, an Inverclyde Golf spokesperson was keen to thank all the clubs involved.
In a statement to the Telegraph they said: "Thanks goes to all three golf clubs - especially the team captains for fielding teams in the event.
"Inverclyde Golf would like to thank Port Glasgow Golf Club for hosting the event."
