MORTON defender Morgan Boyes wants to use the pain of throwing away a two goal lead to Falkirk to inspire his side to get their first league win of the season against Queen's Park.
Ton head to Glasgow's south side this weekend, where they'll go to battle in the shadows of Hampden Park against Callum Davidson's Spiders looking to get themselves up and running with their first three points of the league campaign.
Boyes admits that the defeat against the Bairns felt like they'd dropped six points in disappointing fashion, and despite scraping past Cowdenbeath in the SPFL Trust Trophy, he wants to make up for it where it matters most.
He told the Tele: "That win on Saturday could well be what we needed to start getting wins over the line.
"It was a scrappy game, where we weren't really on the right side of it. But we managed to hold on and make sure that we were.
"Hopefully that gives us a footing to really get going now. The belief is there that we can do it.
"We know that on any day, if we do what we know we can, then we can beat anyone. It's just about focusing on what ourselves and nobody else, and making sure we go out and give 110 per cent.
"It felt like we'd dropped six points after the Falkirk game. That's how bad a result it was.
"To be two-nil up, against a team like that, at home, you at least expect to see the game out until half time.
"We just threw it away completely. In the second half, they got that early goal, and that's what cost us getting what could've been another point on the board, or even three.
"Having the cup last weekend was good as it gave us a bit of a different focus, but it was also a bit of a pain, because we want to rectify what happened against Falkirk and now we're having to wait two weeks for the opportunity to do that.
"We want to correct what went wrong and we want to do it as soon as possible."
Boyes admits the prospect of playing a the redeveloped Lesser Hampden is one that excites him as Ton gear up to play on one of the best surfaces in the country.
What that does mean though for the Welshman is that there will be no room for excuses as he looks to take the game to his side's opponents on Saturday.
He added: "The Queen's Park game will be a bit different to what we were playing on last weekend, that's for sure.
"It's possibly the best surface in Scotland that we'll be playing on, so there's going to be no excuses on our part.
"We think we can go and get three points, so we need to turn out the best performance that we possibly can and hopefully that'll be enough for the result to go our way."
