MORGAN BOYES says he'd happily let his scoring exploits take a back seat in exchange for a clean sheet against Queen's Park this weekend.
The defender is Ton's joint top scorer in the league, with one goal, alongside Owen Moffat and defensive partner Jack Baird, but he admits he's more than happy to take a back seat on that front if it means shutting out the Spiders at the other end of the park.
After keeping clean sheets in their opening two league games, Ton conceded against Livingston and Falkirk before edging out Cowdenbeath 1-0 in the Challenge Cup - and Boyes says he wants to make sure the feat is repeated at Lesser Hampden on Saturday,
He told the Tele: “I’m delighted to be up there with the goalscorers for now, but hopefully we can get back to keeping consistent clean sheets and letting the attackers start scoring, keeping the goals out at our end and beginning to get three points.
“It was nice to get that first goal at the time. It was a good feeling against a team who haven’t lost in a while.
“When we got the second you’re thinking 'right, here we go', and then the game turned on its head.
“I’d had a few chances before the one I’d actually scored, a couple at Partick and one against Hamilton.
“I think it’d been coming, but hopefully I can continue to chip in over the coming weeks and get back to getting the shutouts."
