BIRKMYRE Rugby Club go into their fourth league match of the season this weekend in confident mood after a convincing 61-0 win over Clydebank.

The Bears were on top from the opening minutes of the match and never looked back.

From an attacking lineout deep in opposition territory, Birkmyre secured the ball at the back of a maul. Seeing a gap down the blind side, scrum half Tom McGeoch darted through and round under the posts to score. Lewis Higgins converted.

Inside 15 minutes it was 21-0. Skipper Ross Moglia picked up a loose ball on the edge of the 22, broke a tackle and went in under the posts.

Moglia then added his second before Ali Dickson extended the score even further.

The only blip in the Birkmyre performance was a yellow card for Angus Rintoul just before the half.

However he wasn’t finished there as a few minutes later, scored an equally impressive fourth try, weaving his way through defenders.

The captain then completed his scoring with his fifth try of the day. This time he collected a pass just inside his own half and stepped down the line avoiding defenders to run in under the posts.

The victory lifts Birkmyre towards mid table with a tough away fixture to come this Saturday against old rivals Irvine.
