TEN members of the Port Glasgow Otters swim team brought a raft of medals home from the Clyde Valley Beavers Annual Gala.

The team represented their club and Inverclyde with distinction as they cleaned up at the event held in the Wishaw Sports Centre, Lanarkshire.

It was a challenging competition with 17 teams competing across 97 events, which kept the participants busy for the majority of the day.

At the end of a fantastic exhibition of swimming, the team returned with a super tally of 27 medals, including six gold, five silver and 16 bronze. In addition several personal bests were also broken.

It was a special day for the Otters as one of their younger swimmers, Max McCorkindale, competed in his first competition.

He swam in the 25m beginners race and was triumphant in winning his first medal.

Kyle Brotherton led by example won two silver medals in the 75m individual medley and 25m butterfly and a bronze in the 25m breaststroke.

Eve Cushnaghan put in a dominant display that saw her win a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke, silver in the 50m backstroke and four bronze in the 75m individual medley, 25m butterfly and 400m freestyle.

This then meant that Isaac Dunning followed suit, winning two gold medals in the 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke (both class two), silver in the 100m individual medley (open) and bronze in the 50m backstroke.

Richard Browning won a brace of medals in a brave showing, scooping up a gold in the 400m freestyle and bronze in the 100m individual medley.

Aimee Philips won a full set, gold in the 25m breaststroke, silver in the 25m freestyle and bronze in the 25m backstroke.

Ruairidh Craynor ensured that more medals would follow, getting both hands on a gold in the 25m breaststroke and two bronzes in the 25m backstroke and 25m freestyle.

Courtney Clark won two bronze medals in the 25m backstroke and 25m breaststroke.

Zak Gallacher would then add two bronze medals in the 50m backstroke and 25m freestyle, who was joined by Aimee Hagan, won two bronze medals in the 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle.
