IT'S derby week in the Tennents National League Division Four as all roads lead to Fort Matilda, writes John Dyer.
In a Clyde coast derby clash, Greenock Wanderers' first XV play host to local rivals Ardrossan Accies, who are flying high in National Four having been promoted last season from West Regional One.
The North Ayrshire side, having finished 2023-24 with a 100 per cent league record, are undefeated this season after three matches and are sitting pretty joint top of the table with Strathmore - who happen to be the Wanderers' next opponents, whom they'll play next week, away from home.
After last week's disappointing loss to Hamilton the home side will have to regroup quickly to have any chance of getting some points.
Selection has yet to be made, but there will be a bit of a headache to be navigated, with a few players are unavailable.
The game will still come to early for second row Vavi to return, but better news that co-captain Lyle Murray is fit again having had no reaction to his cameo role last week.
Elsewhere, the second XV have a home match against Lomond and Helensburgh, where they will be looking for another win after dispatching Allan Glen's last week. Kick off scheduled for 1pm.
The men's third XV are at home to GHA Lions, with a 3pm kick-off, whilst the under-18s are away to Livingston.
On Sunday, the action continues as the youth section take centre stage.
Fort Matilda will host minis training (P5 to P7), with the session stating at 10:30am. Under 14's training will follow on from that at midday.
In another home tie, the boys' under 16s will face off against local rivals Garnock with a 2pm kick-off.
In the ladies section, the under-14s travel to Dumfries, whilst the under-16s will travel to Lanarkshire to face off against Dalziel.
The women's second XV are on the road to Lanarkshire, travelling to face East Kilbride at 2pm, while the women's first XV have no match this weekend.
Greenock Wanderers are sponsored by MMSEARCH, whilst the ladies' section is sponsored by Straps of Gourock and Brow House Cosmetics.
