DETERMINED Morton playmaker Ali Crawford says his side can't let Colin Steven's Ayr spot kick shocker overrule the positives that can be taken from his side's performance at Somerset Park.

Crawford admits that the decision is still a sore one to take after a game that saw little difference between the two sides who now sit at opposite ends of the table.

But he's keen to try and take the positives from what he feels was a promising performance against a side who sit three points clear at the top of the table.

Crawford has been left frustrated by calls but says his side could've had something to hold at AyrCrawford has been left frustrated by calls but says his side could've had something to hold at Ayr (Image: alex craig) And the Ton playmaker says that the first goal in games taking place within the Championship will be crucial as he went back over what could have been at Somerset Park.

"The decision and the result last week was really tough to take," he told the Tele.

"There was nothing in the game either, both sides had a couple of chances and ultimately it's come down to a penalty that I think everybody knows should not have stood.

"There is positives to take from the game though, we've gone toe to toe with a team who are flying at the top of the league.

"We limited them to very little, whilst creating chances ourselves. So it's important that we take that into Saturday.

"We've been pretty good at home as well, so it's a game that we should be very much looking forward too against Raith and it's a game that we really should be looking forward too.

"We do need to focus on the point that we've been mixing it with teams up the top of the league, but again I do think that there will be lots of games this season where the first goal is going to be so crucial.

"If you can do that then nine times out of ten then you'll come away with at least a point and it could have been the case on Saturday. We would have had something to hold onto at least. But we'd be concerned if we weren't creating chances.

"If we'd been backs against the wall and hanging on for dear life then it'd have been a different story.

"We were well in the game, limited them to very little and showed that there is a bit of solidarity in the group. We do and continue to work hard for each other."

Crawford says that inevitably frustration has built up as the big decisions seem to continually go against his side.

Henderson's penalty has been a huge talking pointHenderson's penalty has been a huge talking point (Image: Duncan Bryceland) Saturday's call by whistler Colin Steven, who wrongly adjudged Jay Henderson not to have taken a double touch whilst taking his decisive penalty, was the third big call to go against Ton in four games.

And the call is also understood to have warranted a second apology from recently appointed head of ref's Willie Collum, given to Ton boss Dougie Imrie earlier this week.

"The more decisions go against you," Crawford continued. "The more the frustrations begin to build up. You do just need to get on with the game.

"The Falkirk game saw us concede a penalty that wasn't a penalty, before having a penalty of our own denied.

"The saying is, is that decisions even themselves out over the course of the season. So hopefully we can start to get some decisions go our way.

"It'd help us if we were too, but with the way we're playing we should be taking the three points anyway."
