GREENOCK WANDERERS prepare to hit the road again hoping that their trip to Forfar will see them come away with a win against an undefeated Strathmore, writes John Dyer.
Wanderers make the long trip north to play third placed Strathmore in the Tennent's National Division Four. The Forfar side are a team that the Fort Matilda outfit know only too well, having had mixed fortunes against them in recent seasons.
Fans of the Greenock outfit will remember one memorable away win in the Scottish Rugby Union Cup semi-final, where an opposition player missed a conversion in front of the posts to allow Wanderers to advance into the Final at Murrayfield.
So far this season Strathmore are undefeated, keeping within touching distance of the top of the league and it will be a very difficult task for Wanderers to get much from the game.
In a blow to the management team, who are looking to try and keep an element of consistency to the team, there will be a number of enforced changes from last week which will not help preparations.
The second team are also on the road, travelling to Glasgow's South Side to face off against Cartha. They're looking to bounce back after a defeat to an experienced GHA last week.
Elsewhere in the club, the Ladies 1st team are at home to Oban and they will be keen to keep up their good form.
The Under 18's have a trip of their own, through to the east coast to face off against Balerno based, Currie RFC.
On Sunday the action continues with five teams in action over the course of the day. The Minis welcome Ayr to Greenock in the morning, with an 11am kick-off.
That tie is followed up by both the Under 13's and Under 14's, who both travel down to the borders and play Biggar, with respective 2pm kick offs.
The Under 16's will make the same trip as the first team as they face off against Strathmore.
In the ladies section, the Under 13's face off against Biggar, with a 2pm kick off whilst 14's host a round robin tournament due to kick off at midday.
The Under 16's face off against Cartha at home, with an 11am kick-off.
Greenock Wanderers are grateful to Club Sponsor, MMSEARCH, as well as Ladies Section Sponsors Straps of Gourock and Brow House Cosmetics.
