THE latest Greenock park run welcomed 88 people who ran, jogged and walked the course as they battled the elements in horrible conditions.
Of the near 100 who took part, the event welcomed five first timers and eight recorded new Personal Bests, whilst representatives of seven different clubs took part.
Waterproof jackets, trousers and welly boots were better suited to the conditions than T-shirts, shorts and running shoes, though it's hoped the weather won't stop the event's newcomers, David Cowan, David Crawford (his first ever parkrun), Garscube Harriers' Stuart Irvine, Springburn Harriers' Ian MacDonald, and Janette Hirst from coming back.
Gaining new personal bests this week were Dale McSherry, Scott McCluckie, Joseph McFadden, Lewis Austin, Florence Witherow, Ann-Marie Mallon, Greg Mallon and Colleen Lever.
Along with local running clubs, Greenock Glenpark Harriers and Inverclyde Athletics Club, the event welcomed runners from Kirkintilloch Olympians, Wagga Wagga Road Runners, Garscube Harriers and Springburn Harriers.
Completing his 150th parkrun was Stuart Crawford. Stuart has volunteered 33 times as well, giving him a very commendable volunteer ratio.
Owen Atkinson was first runner to complete the course in 18.55.
He was followed by Stephen Hanley, ten seconds back. But with a new PB of 19:38, Dale McSherry completed the top three men.
In 23.01, Ashley Anderson was first female to finish as Heather Lafferty finished little under 30 seconds behind. Completing the top three ladies was Fiona Macfarlane in 25.45.
Louis Reid headed the junior section, finishing the run in fourth place in a time of 19.43.
Club rosters are looking rather empty for the next few weeks and you could be the 550th volunteer next week. If you would like to help out, or find out more about volunteering, please email greenock@parkrun.com or message their Facebook page.
