GREENOCK Wanderers have another opportunity to wim some vital league points when they host Linlithgow at Fort Matilda this weekend, writes John Dyer.
The clash promises to be a thriller on the build up to Halloween as the history books determine that it many years have passed, since both teams last went head to head.
It's a welcomed return after Linlithgow earned their place in Tennent's National Division Four this season, as a result of winning the Easy Regional League last time around.
It's been a fruitful return for the visitors, who presently sit in fourth position in the league.
The West Lothian side boast four wins from seven matches - taking some big scalps along the way against sides who've all tasted success at the Wanderers suspense this season.
On the positive side, Wanderers welcome back a trio of experienced players in the backs - this will always improves the sides chances of taking something from the match.
The forwards will certainly have to improve their performance from last week where they were pushed off the ball regularly.
That certain 'spark' has been missing from the home side for most of the season in times where individuals have performed well but it will require a big team performance to take anything from the match despite home advantage.
Wanderers men's second and third team also prepare to host home ties this weekend as they gear up to face Strathendrick and Clydebank respectively.
In the youth section, another busy weekend is expected with the Under 18's due to travel to Hamilton, where they'll be looking to follow on from the Under 13's local derby clash against Birkmyre on Friday night.
On Sunday the minis are back in competitive action as they travel to Helensburgh, kicking off at 11am.
In the boys' section, the under 13s, 14s and 16s all face trips on the road, heading to East Kilbride, Dumfries and Wigtownshire respectively. All of which have 2pm kick offs.
The Under 15s host Hamilton at Fort Matilda, representing the only tie in Greenock on the day.
In the ladies section, the under 16 and women's first teams both gear up for trips to East Dumbartonshire.
The Under 16's travel to Lenzie for an 11am kick off whilst the first team travel to Milngavie to play West of Scotland at 2pm
