WHINHILL Golf Club has celebrated a successful year with its recent annual prize-giving ceremony.

The event marked the end of the club's 2024 season, which saw a significant turnout for most competitions.

Chris McDiarmid was named Club Champion for the first time.

Other notable winners included Tommy Morton, who took home the Holy Loch Trophy and the Centenary Trophy, and Andrew Mallon, who secured the D.K. Thompson Trophy and Peter Kirkwood Trophy.

Peter Daly won the Wallace Trophy, and Joe Blyth was awarded the Coronation Cup.

Stuart Boyle was the President’s Prize winner, with Stephen Donald taking both the Beith Trophy and the Outing Trophy.

James McClure was the D. Hamilton Trophy winner, and John Forsyth won the J. Paul Trophy.

Marc McIlroy took home the C. McCready Trophy, the Jim Paterson Memorial Trophy, and the Robert Bell Trophy.

The Jubilee Trophy went to Paul McEwan, and David Adams won the Campbell Trophy.

The A. Wilson Trophy was claimed by Sean McLaughlin, who also won the Strokeplay Trophy.

Hugh Mallon was the J. Melvin Trophy winner, with John Donald securing the J.S. Thomson Trophy and the Winter Scratch.

Kevin McLaughlin won the John Renfrew Memorial Trophy, and John Gardiner was awarded the Inverclyde Sports Council Trophy.

Ross Ballantyne took home the George Jenkinson Trophy.

In the matchplay competitions, Graham Brown and Kenny Lever won the Boyd Trophy, and Eddie Cassidy and Keith Haslam claimed the McIntyre Trophy.

John McCabe was the Anniversary Trophy winner, with Hugh Speirs taking the Peter Graham Trophy.

Other winners included Billy McCulloch, Stuart Coils, and Paul McCarn, who won the Hugh Graham Trophy, Auld Yins Tassie Trophy, and Churm Trophy, respectively.

In the major competitions, Tyler O’Donnell, Shaun McDowell, and David McFeeters were the respective winners of the Medal Finals in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd sections.

Andrew Mallon claimed the Hammy Simpson Trophy, with Colin McCairn winning the Winter Handicap.

John Donald took the Winter Scratch, and Dale Arkley was the J. Snoddy Trophy winner.

The Texas Scramble was won by Ian Gardiner, John Gardiner, Kevin Gardiner, and Martyn McCready.

The Margaret Lever Trophy went to Jim Dougan.

Whinhill Golf Club extended its gratitude to those who contributed to the successful season, particularly the bar and catering staff, green-keepers, and the Match & Handicap Committee.
