GREENOCK head up to Springburn tomorrow to face Finnart FC. The North Glasgow outfit currently sit eighth in the third division of WOSFL, 3pts behind the Nock, having played three games less.

The Nock will be fired up to put last week’s disappointing performance behind them and start another winning run. That will not be easy against a strong Finnart, who have had some impressive results in the campaign, most notably against Irvine Victoria and Glasgow United, second and fourth respectively.

They also boast a miserly defence, so Greenock will have to be a little more considered and patient in attack than they were last weekend.

That is certainly not beyond manager Gary Fleming’s men. There is no shortage of technical ability and game intelligence in the squad and hopefully that can be brought to bear on Saturday.

The synthetic park at Springburn will be not be disadvantageous. The Greenock squad train on astro-grass and the hi-tempo passing game the management team are developing will suit the playing surface.

Manager Gary Fleming was quite sanguine about last week’s performance.

He said: “We’ve reflected as a team about the disappointment of the home draw last week, however we cannot be too hard on the boys. Over the past six or seven weeks results and performances have been excellent and sometimes you have days in football when things just don’t click.

"We will be going into Saturday with all guns blazing for maximum points. The tempo in training has been great and with the competition for places I have the welcome headache of selecting the starting eleven.

"This will be a very tough game. Finnart have only lost twice this season and currently have the best defensive record in the league. That said, we have scored 13 goals in our last five matches.

"Pleasingly, they have been spread around the team and have been sourced from a range of different positions”

Saturday kick-off 2pm Springburn Synthetic, Springburn Park
