MORTON striker Robbie Muirhead insists that team-mate George Oakley's goal against Raith Rovers on Saturday should not have been ruled out by the match officials.

It took a very delayed decision from whistler Colin Steven to rule out what would've been his 14th of the season after a late flag for offside.

Muirhead feels that if the use of VAR had been extended to the Championship, then the lines used to determine offside would have cleared the strike.

He said: "I had a really good view of the disallowed goal. For me George was just about level, and it should've stood.

"I had a perfect angle of the finish too and it was going in all the way from the second it left his boot.

"If we had VAR in the Championship then the lines would have been brought out.

"You could say that things like that have been the story of our season, either missed chances have come back to haunt us or decisions have gone against us.

"But then again we’ve had other things that have fallen to us on occasions.

"Over the course of 36 games and a full season, everything will even itself out in moments like that, you can't get too caught up on them at the time."
