MORTON have announced a pre-season Renfrewshire derby.

The Communities Cup will return next month as Cappielow plays host to a fixture against St Mirren.

The match will take place on Tuesday July 9 with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Last season saw the first edition of the Communities Cup, and the first Renfrewshire derby since 2020 saw Ton run out 2-0 winners.

Ticket information will be announced shortly.

Morton general manager Dale Pryde-MacDonald said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Communities Cup again this season.

"The meeting of two community-owned clubs is again a fantastic occasion and showcases the real power of community and the positives that can happen when people come together for the benefit of their respective badges.

“Obviously the historic rivalry between both clubs is there for all to see but it is also important to acknowledge the fact that both clubs put in a lot of effort in to their local communities and supporting the people in their respective areas, hence why it has become known as the Communities Cup.”

“Both clubs provide platforms for local people to learn, engage, develop and grow and we hope that both sets of supporters will acknowledge the great breadth of worth that Morton in the Community and the St Mirren Chartiable Foundation do to serve their local communities all year round.”

“Ahead of the match taking place in July, I encourage all supporters to take some time to explore further their charitable organisations to really see the huge benefits that the programmes have for participants and how you can help and play your part in work that the clubs do in their local areas.”
