A SCOTLAND supporting schoolboy who used his artistic skills to rally behind the national football team has been presented with a special prize by the Telegraph.
All Saints Primary pupil Cameron Collins won a brand-new Scotland strip after coming out top in a recent Tele competition which asked readers to design a poster wishing Steve Clarke’s men luck as they set off for Germany.
Now Cameron and his classmates are looking ahead to Euro 2024 and hoping to see a strong showing from the national side.
The 11-year-old told the Tele he couldn’t wait for the tournament to get under way and believes Scotland can come out on top in their three games against Germany, Switzerland and Hungary.
Cameron added: “I’m so happy to have won.
“I’m really looking forward to the Euros and seeing Scotland winning.
“My favourite player in the team is Callum McGregor because he’s a Celtic player.
“There are a couple of Celtic players in the team, but I like Callum McGregor especially.
“I’m most looking forward to the Germany game, but that might be a draw.
“It’s just really exciting.”
Teacher Beth Murray added: “The whole class took part, we’re doing a wee mini topic on the Euros so this kickstarted our learning.
“Everyone’s really excited about the tournament, especially Cameron now.
“I’m very proud of all of them, they all gave it 100 per cent.”
Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad, which includes local footballers Lewis Morgan and Greg Taylor, face hosts Germany in the tournament’s opening fixture tomorrow night.
