MORTON are 'close' to completing two new signings.
Four players decided to quit the club at the end of last season, with Robbie Crawford knocking back a new deal, Robbie Muirhead joining Livingston, George Oakley moving on and Lewis Strapp rejecting a new contract.
And while Cappielow general manager Dale Pryde-MacDonald would not reveal any individual targets, he is confident the club is in a good place to conduct business, having already signed striker Jordan Davies from Connah's Quay Nomads on a pre-contract.
He said: "When all is said and done I would imagine we will end this summer stronger than last year and that is no disrespect to the players who were at the club previously.
"We now have a steady base and the ability to be more aggressive in our tactics for signings in terms of getting people in the building instead of having to play the waiting game.
"It is about being bold and mentally strong enough to say 'we can’t wait a month for someone to make a decision so we are moving on'.
"It would be unfair of me to name individuals at this point but what I can say is we are very close to a couple [of players] and we hope to have more news on that over the next few days.

"We have all been working extremely hard behind the scenes."
The Ton GM joined the Scottish Championship side last November, with the club lingering six points adrift at the bottom of the table.
Imrie's men would bounce back though, going on an unbeaten run of 16 games which contributed to a fifth-place finish and an appearance in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
And Pryde-Macdonald feels the previous campaign provides the perfect platform for the club to build on.
"The strategy we have set out is that we want to be a top 16 club in Scottish football which includes the premiership," he continued.
"I am not saying we are going to win the league or the playoffs immediately but we have ambition and want to aspire towards being at that level.
"Everyone is aware of the competitive nature of the championship.
"It went down to the wire in terms of who was going to be in the playoffs last year so there is a lot to play for every week in this division.
"The teams that finish in the playoffs or above are the ones that manage to string together a consistent run of form and keep the momentum going.
"That is our aim and we want to build a squad that can do that.
"We also have complete faith in Dougie being able to continue this process."
