MORTON new boy Morgan Boyes says that new gaffer Dougie Imrie is the type of coach you want to play for after penning a one-year deal at Cappielow.

Boyes made his first start in new colours in last night's defeat to St Mirren.

But after only being in the building for a few days he believes that the new ideas that the Ton boss is trying to get across are making their way from the training ground to the pitch.

And Boyes says that a big factor in choosing to spend the next 12-months in Inverclyde was the impression that Imrie had left on him during conversations they'd have over the summer.

He told the Tele: "It's good to get down for the season and I'm really happy to get going.

"I just missed the gaffer from when we were both at Livingston, but having spoken to boys that know him and having come up against his teams, I'm excited to be here.

"You can tell when you speak to him, whether that's on the phone or through meeting him that he's a really good guy and that he's someone you want to play for. That was a massive factor in making the decision to come here.

"The project that the gaffer is trying to implement really excites me, I think you can see that the team are moving in a different direction.

"I've only been here a couple of days now, but in such a short period of time in the two games, you can see what the gaffer is trying to put across to us and it's moving from the training ground to the pitch quite well I think."
