JAY EMMANUEL-THOMAS says he’s ready to write a new exciting chapter of his career at Morton after swapping Dubai for Greenock to join Dougie Imrie’s cause.
JET became Imrie’s eleventh signing of the summer as he ramped up his search for a focal point to lead the line this season.
And the 33-year-old says he’s raring to get going as a striker after being deployed as a deep lying playmaker for much of his time in the last three seasons.
Now he’s back on home soil, the former Bristol, Ipswich and Livingston man, who has experience north of the border with Livingston and Aberdeen, says he’s ready to prove any doubters wrong and use all of his experience to help Imrie’s men navigate what promises to be a gruelling Championship season.
He said: “To be fair, the move did come about all quite quickly.
“I was actually away at a training camp in Dubai. I’ve then come home and I’d been invited by a friend to go and train with Kidderminster for the back end of their pre-season.

“Whilst I was there, we got to the Friday evening and I’ve taken a call saying that I was wanted to come here, train and see what both parties felt like.
“So on the Friday I was heading back home to pack everything up to come back up to Scotland on the Sunday, to then start training on Monday. Things did turn around quite quickly.
“Then after four or five days we managed to come to an agreement to sort everything out.
“When I left Scotland, I went straight to India to play for Aidy Boothroyd. That was really enjoyable even though I didn’t play as a striker. I played as a number six.
"He wanted to play football, and he knew I obviously had good quality on the ball and was able to keep it moving and break forward when I wanted to.
“That of course has meant people are looking and saying 'he’s gone to India and scored two goals'. But because nobody knows about or watches Indian Super League Football, they’ll not have access to that kind of information.
“So I didn’t play striker in any of the games. It was nice though, as I got a lot of the ball. I enjoyed it.
“That was the same at Kidderminster, under Phil Brown, and we managed to stay in the league.
“I’m now really looking forward to getting going here and helping the team out.”
JET was delighted to get something sorted before the start of the season as he looks to hit the ground running in the Championship opener against Partick this weekend.

He says that having two weeks of full training before his potential debut should make it a seamless transition into Dougie Imrie’s side.
He added: “It’s good to get sorted before the season’s started too because it’s sometimes hard to get up to speed.
“When everyone’s already fully up to speed and the manager has an idea of what he wants to do, you’re playing catch up which is always hard.
“Hopefully I can do the job that’s asked of me and help create and score a few goals a long the way. It’s going to be a good league and I can't wait to be a part of it.”
