DOUGIE Imrie has moved to bolster his options ahead of tomorrow’s Championship opener by securing the signing of former loanee Ali Crawford.

The former Hamilton Accies and St Johnstone man is no stranger to Sinclair Street having already featured on loan, signing in February 2023 until the end of the season.

He featured 12 times in a spell that saw him play a part in the side that cruelly missed out on the promotion play offs on only goal difference, in an incredible season that saw the Cappielow side finish six points off eventual winners Dundee.

Crawford becomes Imrie’s twelfth summer signing, penning a six month deal up until January and it is believed that he has the option to extend the deal until the end of the season should it suit all parties.

The former Bolton and Doncaster playmaker has been training with Imrie’s men for the majority of pre-season, featuring as a second half sub, in his only trial appearance against Alloa in Ton’s second of three 1-0 pre-season wins.

He was forced off injured with a knock to his knee, but he has since recovered and was seen training with the squad in Tuesday’s open training session.

And his efforts have seen him do enough to convince Imrie to welcome him back to Sinclair Street for a second time with the 33-year-old expected to be included in the squad for tomorrow's William Hill Championship opener against Partick at Firhill.
