MORTON boss Dougie Imrie reckons that influential midfielder Iain Wilson has found a home at Cappielow after he started off the season with an imperious display against Partick Thistle.

Wilson wowed supporters with a man-of-the-match display against the much-fancied Championship favourites as a lone defensive midfielder.

And Imrie says that that’s the kind of role that the former Killie kid thrives in.

The Ton boss reckons that Wilson will feel the benefit of having a first full pre-season in over three years.

But he also believes that finding somewhere he can call home will kick him on even more.

Imrie told the Tele: “I thought Iain Wilson was excellent on Saturday. He had a big year last year for us last time around, but I think he’ll be even better this time.

“That performance though against Partick is Iain Wilson’s game, going and doing the dirty work that usually goes unnoticed.

“People don’t see what he does usually, but he’s always in the right area at the right time, picking up second balls and moving it on, starting attacks.

“Middle to front, I thought that we were excellent against Partick.

“He’ll feel the benefit of having a full pre-season too. He’s been in and out, here and there and he’s found himself out of favour.

“But he’s found a home here, as have two or three other players.

"What you saw at the weekend from the whole team, working tirelessly for each other, is what you’ll get.

“If we can get that, we’ll be OK this season, even though we’ve been written off in some quarters.”
