PORT GLASGOW manager Tam Jamieson wants his side to show their bounce back ability as they look to put last week’s five-goal defeat behind them.
The Undertakers welcome BSC Glasgow to Parklea this weekend, looking for a reaction in response to suffering a heavy defeat to GreenVersity WOSFL Division Four new boys Giffnock.
Having beaten Rossvale and West Park United in their first two matches, Jamieson’s men were left shell-shocked by a 5-2 defeat to a side that had failed to pick up any points in their opening two games.
But he’s hoping that they can do the business when they welcome their Yoker-based opponents to Inverclyde on Saturday.
Jamieson told the Tele: “If you’re going to be on the end of a result like that, you’re better off having it right at the start of the season.
“The BSC game gives us the opportunity to bounce back and show the mentality that we want to have here.
“Our aims from the first four games were to try and win all four. If we couldn’t, then it was to pick up nine points. If we win on Saturday, we'll still do that.
“It means you’ve got a chance to fix things and see what went wrong.
"I take a lot of responsibility for Saturday. I probably got that wrong with the team selection.
“I put the trust and the belief in them, and they can’t go letting themselves or their teammates down.
“But we never got going. It’s never easy trying to catch up after that.
“We expect to pick up three points against anybody in this league, because we want people to come to Parklea and fear us.
"Nobody’s really felt the brunt of us having a full squad yet, thanks to the sponsors' hard work that has allowed us to bring the bodies we have in.
“We want to be quick, expansive and aggressive in the way we want to play. I’ll be honest, hopefully BSC can come away from the weekend feeling like we did last time around.”
Jamieson is hoping to have a near-full squad to choose from ahead of the clash: Mark Millar remains out as he works his way back from injury, but Josh McLaughlin has resumed light training following on from a knock picked up in pre-season.
Kick off at Parklea is 2pm.
