OPTIMISTIC Morton boss Dougie Imrie was able to give a positive assessment on his new-look side despite failing to pick up all three points against Hamilton Accies.
Ton sit sixth in the William Hill Championship having drawn their opening two games against Partick and Hamilton, both 0-0 stalemates.
But Imrie said that last weekend’s clash against Accies would be a real gauge as to how far his team have come in the opening six weeks of the season.
Despite seeing his side fail to score in their opening two games of the league season – the Ton chief is more than happy with how his side are playing overall.
Although he says his side are in for a different ball game when going up against Livingston in ten days time.
He told the Tele: “I think if we can get that level of performance week in, week out then we’ll be fine.
“But like I say, we’re away to Livingston up next, in ten days’ time. It’ll be another difficult game on the astro-grass.
“It’s a big pitch, I watched them play Queen’s Park last Friday and it was a decent game. A draw as probably a fair result because Queen’s Park were decent in spells as well.
“But it’ll be a totally different game when we play them. I’m hoping it’ll not be as dry as it was on Saturday.
“We want to try and play football and the pitch on Saturday, which is meant in no disrespect because it happens, was too dry and we couldn’t get the ball moving freely.
“We saw it on the opening day up at Firhill when there’s a bit of dew on the grass, we cut them open for fun.
“Michael went through on goal a couple of times against Hamilton, and he was getting the ball stuck under his feet.
“That’s probably the only disappointment when we’re looking to assess where we’re at, but overall, the feeling is positive.”

Imrie revealed that the upcoming free weekend will see his players given the chance to recharge their batteries after an intensive pre-season and Premier Sports Cup group stage.
The Ton boss, alongside assistant Andy Millen have worked around the clock in the build up to their league opener at the beginning of the month, putting players through their paces.
This saw an implemented programme of double sessions and gym work that was intertwined with eight games before a ball was kicked at Firhill.
He added: “The free week will see the boys get a few days off. We’ll work for three or four of the days then they’ll get a few days off.
“It’ll give them a chance to recharge after what’s been a tough five or six weeks for them.
“They’ve had a demanding pre-season coinciding with the League Cup campaign and it’ll give them a chance to go and spend a bit of time away before getting straight back to work on Monday.”
