PORT GLASGOW boss Tam Jamieson reckons his side have given themselves the right platform heading into a run of four home games by hitting Royal Albert for six.

The Undertakers gaffer wanted to see his side bounce back from their midweek collapse against GreenVersity Fourth Division leaders Knightswood...and they hit the mark in style against Royal Albert at Tileworks Park.

Jamieson had wanted his side to keep the pressure on the side currently sitting at the top of the tree, and strikes from Jack Purdue, Jamie McKay, Ross Kearns and Stuart Cameron put the gloss on what was a comfortable afternoon in Lanarkshire for the Parklea outfit.

It didn't take long for Purdue to get off the mark, doing well to get on the end of knock down to take a good touch in the box and find the top left corner.

Jamie McKay soon doubled up from 12-yards, sending the Albert goalkeeper the wrong way with a deft spot-kick.

McKay would then go from scorer to supplier, setting up Purdue to net his second, sliding under an onrushing keeper to put his side three goals to the good.

And Jamieson says he's just happy to see the former Ton kid back enjoying his football as he looks to have found a home at his local side.

He said: "We had Jack in for pre-season and we know how much of an impact he can have.

"I think he plays his best when you let him get on with it.We're still trying to figure out how to manage him, but on Saturday he was exceptional.

"He's had a hand in six goals in our last two games, either scoring or setting them up.

"He makes things look so effortless. It's brilliant to watch, and hopefully we can keep a hold of him and keep him interested.

"It'd be easy for him to fall out of love with football after what he's been through."

The second half saw another three goals come the way of Jamieson's side; Purdue did well to meet the run of Kearns who stabbed the ball home at the near post for the fourth, before a slick move saw McKay set up Kearns to send the ball into the bottom right corner, fully stretched to double up on a good afternoon.

Stuart Cameron's acrobatic volley sealed off the scoring against the Stonehouse outfit, and Jamieson says he couldn't have asked for more from his side.

He added: "It was a flawless performance. We were really good. We got the reaction we wanted after the midweek defeat to Knightswood.

"The biggest thing for me was getting the three points. The clean sheet would've been good but I think we did everything right in order to get the win.

"We had boys coming back, which made a huge different with subs coming on.We're feeling really positive now after that.

"We've now got a run of four home games coming up, and the win sets us up nicely for that.

"It gives us a good chance to get a couple of wins and put some momentum together.

"Once we're at full strength then we'll do well. If we can get the points in the meantime we'll be happy."
