MORTON boss Dougie Imrie has urged supporters to show patience with summer arrivals Jordan Davies and Lamar Reynolds as they adjust to a totally new lifestyle in Greenock.
Both Davies and Reynolds joined the club after successful campaigns elsewhere in 2023-24, with Davies winning the Welsh Cup and securing European qualification with Connah's Quay Nomads, while Reynolds was part of the Maidstone United squad that reached the fifth round of the FA Cup.
And despite hitting the back of the net on their first respective starts, they've both struggled for form as they adjust to their new surroundings.
However Imrie has backed his new arrivals to come good once they have adjusted to their new surroundings and have got used to the intensity of life at Morton and within Scottish football.
He told the Tele: “There’s still one or two trying to get up to speed and I feel for the likes of Jordan and Lamar, who’ve come from Wales and the bottom of England.
“They’ve never really been out of their comfort zone in their careers, and now I’m asking them to come up to Scotland.
“Lamar’s fortunate that his partner and child have been able to come up, but it’s not the case for Jordan, whose family are still down in Wales.
“So in their case it’ll take a bit longer to adjust to Scotland.
"We need the fans to have a bit of patience and get behind them as they come to terms with the demands of Scottish football.
"They're both coming out of part-time football and into a full-time environment. It's a totally different way of living their life.
"Both Lamar and Jordan worked and now they've come into the environment we have here.
"They're having to work double sessions which means that the workload is a lot higher, intense and quicker.
"There's a lot of different things that can have their heads a bit all over the place. They're away from family comforts that they had down the road.
"We have to be careful with them. They need to be given a little bit longer to adjust."
